About Tanya:
“When you come to see me for bodywork, you will have my full attention and receive the best treatment I am capable of providing. I pay very close attention to all of the little things that make or break a great session. When someone loves what they do, you can feel the difference. Come experience the difference for yourself!”
Training
Aromatherapy, Ayurvedic Massage, Crystal Bowl Sound Healing, Deep Flow Bodywork Level 1 & 2, Deep Tissue Massage, Hawaiian LomiLomi, Hot Stone Massage, Hydrotherapy, Indian Head Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Reflexology, Shiatsu: Mat & Table, Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Usui Reiki Level 1 & 2.
I graduated with honours from a 700-hour bodywork course in July 2009. In May 2010, I started Breathing Space Bodywork and haven't looked back! I absolutely LOVE what I do: helping people relax, breathe and let go. I have training in various bodywork modalities and I incorporate aspects of different modalities into each session.
Experience
After graduating from bodywork school in 2009, I returned to the school in 2010 as a Teachers Assistant and Student Clinic Supervisor. I fell in love with being in the classroom; learning, teaching, and mentoring. I was a Teaching Assistant for 3 years and then became a Head Instructor, teaching multiple core courses and developing new curriculum. Always striving to improve, I enrolled in the Instructor of Adult Education Diploma Program at Vancouver Community College and am officially an Instructor of Adult Education in the province of British Columbia.
Style
Please note, this is not massage therapy. The style of bodywork I practice is called Integrative Bodywork. Essentially, it’s an integration of all the modalities I have studied over the past 14 years. Aromatherapy (essential oils) and hot towels are included with every treatment. Each session is unique and specific to your body.
Approach
I take a holistic and trauma-informed approach to the body; I don't subscribe to the no-pain-no-gain theory. The work can deep and specific… if your body allows it. Rather than forcing my way into your muscles (resulting in bruising and inflammation), I use heat and support (bolsters and pillows) to create an opportunity for your body to relax and receive deeper work. I work as deep as your tissues allow. Relax, breathe, and let go...in that order.
My intention is full-body integration. I use a variety of modalities, tools, and techniques to facilitate a sense of ease, mobility, and lightness in your body. The goal is for your whole being to integrate; nervous system included.
With every session, you can always expect secure and professional draping, the highest standards of cleanliness, and the utmost care to ensure your comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the experience.
